Three things to consider before renting an apartment home

  |     |   Lifestyle

It may not be a four letter word, but it falls into one of the most commonly overused terms people use to describe modern apartments.

On the surface, the word “luxury” sounds pretty fantastic to most people. Yet in this fast-paced market in a society where almost everything is at our fingertips, it is also a bit of a mystery. What does it really mean when people use the term “luxury apartments?” What should you look for? What should you know before you rent a new apartment home?

Defining the otherwise relatively vague term starts with expectations, knowledge and the utmost respect for detail.

1) All the Extras

It’s true that home is where the heart is, but that doesn’t make it any less important for that home to be as comfy, homey and personal as you would like it to be. A luxury apartment should offer all of these things and more in the form of a blank slate for you to leave your mark and make it your own.

Spacious floor plans that offer some variety are a good place to start, but luxury builds on that even further by including extras like a beautiful fitness center, sparkling pool with a fabulous resort-style deck area, and an attentive, caring community team.

Custom finishes throughout the apartment should include more than the basics. Instead, they should be elegantly appointed with fireplaces including custom mantle and trim, nine-foot ceilings, shaker style cabinetry and newly renovated gourmet kitchens.

2) Love it or leave it

No man is an island, and no apartment should be either. To fit into the esteemed category of luxury living, an apartment should offer convenient, sometimes even walkable, restaurants and shopping nearby.

Variety is key, with plenty of choices that include everything from an ideal date night spot to a perfect family-friendly night out.

3) Location matters

It’s one thing to boast a pool and fitness center. These amenities are considered par for the course in most modern apartment communities. What takes them to the next level is adding a resort-like feel. Walking into the apartment lobby should feel like walking into your favorite spa. Home is your place to relax, regroup and recharge, and that should start the minute you walk through the doors.

None of the fun should stop when the weather gets chilly, either. Instead, luxury apartments that raise the bar offer additional escapes indoors, like a well-equipped fitness area and multiple lounge spaces to relax and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee in the nippy winter months.
