There’s really nothing quite like it. When it comes to family traditions, July 4th runs a close second behind Christmas for most people. Rightly so, as we join together with friends and family to celebrate the anniversary of our beloved country’s independence.
The menu might be different. The guest list and locale might vary from one group to another. Yet on this day, on July 4th, we set aside our differences and celebrate how blessed we really and truly are to be Americans.
Opportunities to do so with the community of Wauwatosa abound, particularly with the fireworks and one of the largest Independence Day parades in the state.
Here’s what you need to know about the 2017 July 4th festivities in Wauwatosa:
Featuring almost 100 units that aim to entertain an audience of more than 25,000 spectators, the Wauwatosa parade starts at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 4.
The 85th annual parade kicks off from 80th and North Avenue and proceeds west to 104th Street over the course of about 1.7 miles.
Family fun continues following the parade and prior to the fireworks, from 4 to 9 p.m., at Hart Park, 7300 W. Chestnut Street.
The event will include inflatable rides and live entertainment at the Rotary Stage from 6 to 9 p.m., as well as food and drink concessions.
All the fun concludes with a fireworks spectacular at 9:15 p.m. Fireworks are best viewed from the open area between 70th and 72nd Street and the Rotary Stage.
